Gordon Holmes Trophy

Format

The format is foursomes match play (alternate shots).

• One player from each team will tee off on the odd numbered holes, and the second player will tee off on the even numbered holes

Entry Fee‍

The entry fee of £5 must be paid before commencing the first match.

Arrangement of matches‍

• Both players/pairs share responsibility for arranging the match.
• The deadline for each round is the 30th of the month.
• If a match is not played by the deadline, the club may:
  
  • Award the match to one player/pair
  • Decide the match by the toss of a coin
  • Disqualify both players

Tees

• Men play from the WHITE tees
• Ladies play from the RED tees

Handicap calculations and allowances:

• There is a maximum course handicap of 24 for men and 36 for ladies.
• The handicap allowance is 90% of the difference between the course handicaps, taken from the lowest handicap (make sure you calculate the course handicap for each player - use the handicap calculator)

Example:
For example, player A has a handicap index of 5.6, and a course handicap of 5.
Player B has a handicap index of 21.0 and a course handicap of 22.
Player C has a handicap index of 9.8 and a course handicap of 10.
Player D has a handicap index of 29.5 and a course handicap of 32 - reduced to the maximum of 24
Team 1 (A + B) have a team handicap of 27 [5 + 22]
Team 2 (C + D) have a team handicap of 34 [10 + 24]
Team 1 have a playing handicap of 0
Team 2 have a playing handicap of 4 [(34 - 27) x 50% = 3.5]

Mixed Matches

• In mixed matches, the WHITE scorecard will be used for handicap stroke allocation
• Ladies play from the Red tees
• Ladies will receive 1 additional shot (to accommodate for the difference in par between the white

Ties

If the match is tied after 18 holes:

• Play continues from the 1st hole.
• Sudden death until a winner is determined.
• Handicap strokes continue to apply during playoff holes using the stroke index of each hole.

Posting results

• Results for each match should be posted in the WhatsApp channel promptly after the match is concluded

Concessions

• Putts, holes or matches may be conceded at any time.
• A conceded putt cannot be declined or withdrawn.

Disputes‍

• Any disputes should be referred to the club management.
• Handicap strokes continue to apply during playoff holes using the stroke index of each hole. If a match is not played by the deadline, the club may:

• If a player withdraws the opponent progresses to the next round.
